E-File 1096 | Form 1096 E File | Electronically Filing Form 1096

Technically there is no such thing as 1096 e-File or efiling 1096  forms. Form 1096 is used to transmit paper Forms 1099 to the Internal Revenue Service. Do not use Form 1096 to transmit electronically. If you want to e-file 1099 forms (1099-MISC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV or 1099R)  then you can use our 1099 software along with the 1099 e filing option (W2 Mate Option #4 – Electronic Filing) . If you don’t already have a copy of W2 Mate then you can download a free demo by going to 1099 software download page.

Our 1099 software includes the ability to generate electronic filing submissions for 1099 forms. Using our 1099 e-filing is very affordable compared to other companies that charge you by recipient, in our case you can do efiling for an unlimited number of recipients for one flat fee (W2 Mate Option #4).

What our W2 / 1099 software basically does, it generates a file that is formatted based on the IRS regulations , this file includes the required 1099 tax information that you need to submit.

Once you use our software to generate the 1099 electronic submission file, you can use the IRS FIRE (Filing Information Returns Electronically) website (https://fire.irs.gov) to upload the file to the IRS. Uploading the file to the IRS is very easy and secure. As part of the process you will need to obtain a Transmitter Control Code (TCC code) from the IRS. If you filed your 1099s electronically before,  then you should already have a TCC code. If this is the first time you file electronically  then you can easily obtain a TCC code by submitting Form 4419 and sending it to the IRS. You will need to do this regardless whether you use our software or any other software.  You can download Form 4419 by following these steps inside our W2 Mate software: Click on “IRS & SSA Instructions” then on “Online IRS Instructions” and then click “Application for Filing Returns Electronically (FIRE)”.
