Do I need to update the payroll tax software each year?

Payroll Mate is good for the tax year it is purchased in. Once the new tax year arrives Payroll Mate must be repurchased. Each year the IRS published new tax tables. Because of that fact Payroll Mate needs to be updated annually. The program is updated and enhanced each year with the new tax tables and also new features. Users who already have Payroll Mate from the previous year do not need to reenter all of their company and employee information into the software. They simply need to back up the software in the older version and restore it to the newer version. For instance if one is using Payroll Mate 2006 they will have to back up their company database in Payroll Mate 2006 and restore the company database in Payroll Mate 2007. Nonetheless, Payroll Mate does not expire and users will be able to continue using the software even after the year ends. However, they will not be able to create payroll or receive updates for the new tax year.
