What to Know Before You Buy
2026 Tax Year Only
This edition is updated specifically for the 2026 tax year. It can only be used to file 2026 IRS Forms 941 and 940 (for example, to file forms for 2027, you will need ModernEFile Mate 2027).
Direct IRS Submission
ModernEFile Mate creates the file and you are responsible to upload it directly to the IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) system yourself.
IRS Credentials Required
To successfully transmit e-files, you must have an active EFIN and ETIN authorized for employment tax returns.
Vendor Control Number
Per IRS regulations, we will assign you a Vendor Control Number (VCN) linked to your EFIN. This is a requirement by the IRS and it's similar to the case of when you e-file income tax returns, for example. You cannot transmit e-files without it.
Windows OS Only
ModernEFile Mate runs exclusively on Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating systems.
Single Computer License
We will generate a license that will tie the software installation to one computer only. If you need to move the software later, you need to request license transfer and pay fees as determined by Real Business Solutions.
60 Days Free Technical Support
The software comes with 60 days of complimentary technical support as determined by Real Business Solution, and after that you might need to pay for support.
Annual License & Pricing
Our software is sold as an annual license based on the maximum number of companies you need to file for. Pay once per year—no per-form fees and no third-party charges.
