What's New for Tax Year 2019?

2019 1099 Due Dates

Send 2019 1099-MISC Copy B to the recipient by January 31, 2020.

File 1099-MISC Copy A with the IRS by January 31, 2020, if you are reporting payments in box 7 (Nonemployee compensation).

File 1099-MISC Copy A on paper with the IRS by February 28, 2020, if you are NOT reporting payments in box 7 (Nonemployee compensation).

File 1099-MISC Copy A electronically with the IRS by March 31, 2020, if you are NOT reporting payments in box 7 (Nonemployee compensation).

Very important for 2019 filing season and beyond: If any of your Forms 1099-MISC reporting Nonemployee compensation will be filed after the January 31, 2020 due date, separate the submission of those Forms 1099-MISC from the submission of any Forms 1099-MISC that do not report NEC. So if you are filing on paper separate submissions, each with its own Form 1096.
