How to Import W2 Data Using Electronic Filing Format

W2 Mate® supports importing data from files that comply with the W2 Electronic Filing specifications. The W2 Federal Magnetic Media format is also referred to as MMREF or EFW2 format. W2 Mate® will automatically detect if your file has errors allowing you to correct the issue before importing. This tutorial will walk you through the process of importing W-2 data from an electronic filing format.

Step by Step Instructions

Make sure you have the correct Company open inside W2 Mate

Note: In order to use this feature you must purchase and enable W2 Mate Option #3 to import

1. Click "Import Data" from the top menu

2. Select "From W2 Electronic Filing Format (EFW2 Format)"

This will open the Import wizard

3. Click "Browse" to select the correct EFW2 file to import

4. Review Data

5. Click "Import"

6. Click "OK" on the Data import complete message
