Import From W2 Electronic Filing Format (SSA EFW2 Format) for Multiple W-2C Forms
EFW2 Data Import Feature Overview
The W2Correction Mate software enables users to import data from SSA EFW2 files, allowing quick preview of each employee’s data and the option to selectively import records.
Users can choose to import all W-2 boxes or just employee information, and assign imported data to either the "Previously reported" or "Correct information" section, making corrections easier and reducing manual entry.
Benefits for Users
- This feature saves valuable time for accounting firms and filers who use EFW2 files for SSA wage reporting and need to make corrections or reissue employee forms.
- By allowing targeted data import and preview, it minimizes errors and maximizes flexibility and convenience for high-volume filers.
- Efficient import options help professionals avoid duplicating work and improve accuracy when generating W-2C forms for paper or e-file submission.
SSA EFW2 Format Description
The SSA EFW2 format, formerly known as MMREF, is a standardized, text-based file specification for electronic submission of W-2 wage data for multiple employees to the Social Security Administration. It is used for original annual wage reporting and organizes employee information and tax details according to SSA requirements.
SSA EFW2C Format Description
The SSA EFW2C format is a specialized version of the EFW2, designed to electronically file corrections to previously reported wage and tax information on W-2C forms.
