ModernEFile Mate is an IRS-approved desktop application designed to streamline the preparation and electronic filing of IRS Forms 941 (Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return) and 940 (Employer’s Annual Federal Unemployment Tax Return). The software operates locally on your computer. Your sensitive data is entered and stored directly on your own machine—without the use of cloud storage—requiring an internet connection only at the exact moment you are ready to file. Additionally, users of Payroll Mate® software can import their Forms 941 and 940 with just a few clicks, significantly reducing manual data entry.

At least 8 GB RAM (16 GB or higher recommended. For windows 7, 8 we recommend 3 GB or higher).

941 / 940 E-File Software Trial Download

No registration key is needed to install and test ModernEFile Mate software. All information entered into the trial is retained, should you choose to purchase a full registered copy.

Trial Limitations:

1. The trial software will run for 30 days from the day of installation.

2. Limits on the number of companies and forms.

3. DEMO mark on printed / exported forms.

4. You can see how the e-file works, but can’t create the e-file submission.

If you face problems downloading or installing the setup file, please follow these Installation Guidelines:

Internet Explorer users:

1. Download the file by clicking the Start Download Button (above).

2. When prompted with a window to "Save" or "Run", select "Save" to save the file to your hard disk.

3. Double-click the 2026-ModernEFile-Mate-Trial-1.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

5. Once the installation is complete, open the program by clicking on the program's icon on the desktop.

Mozilla Firefox users:

1. Download the file by clicking the Start Download Button (above).

2. When prompted with a window to "Save" or "Run", select "Save" to save the file to your hard disk.

3. Double-click the 2026-ModernEFile-Mate-Trial-1.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.

4. If you can't locate the setup file, then click on "Tools > Downloads" menu to view the list of downloaded files and double click on the setup file in the list.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

6. Once the installation is complete, open the program by clicking on the program's icon on the desktop.

Google Chrome users:

1. Download the file by clicking the Start Download Button (above).

2. Confirm the download by clicking Save on the downloads bar. Wait until the download is complete.

3. Double-click the 2026-ModernEFile-Mate-Trial-1.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.

4. If you can't locate the setup file, click the arrow next to the file button in the downloads bar and select Show in folder.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

6. Once the installation is complete, open the program by clicking on the program's icon on the desktop.
