How to E-File QuickBooks 1099-B Forms

W2 Mate offers a built in e-filing module so users can e-file QuickBooks 1099-B forms for Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions. This is a powerful component that businesses of all sizes can use to submit 1099-B information returns electronically instead of by paper. Electronically file unlimited 1099-B forms. The tutorial below will go over the instructions for e-filing QuickBooks 1099-B forms.

Import 1099-B Data from QuickBooks

Step by Step Instructions

Make sure you have the correct Company open inside W2 Mate.

1. Click "Import Data" from the top menu.

2. Select "From QuickBooks (W2 and/or 1099 Data)”. This will open the QuickBooks Import wizard.

3. Read Message-understand you will need to have QuickBooks open and actively running.

4. Click "Next".

5. Click "Connect to QuickBooks". This will open a QuickBooks dialog asking if you want to authorize W2 Mate to access the company information in QuickBooks.

6. Click "Yes".

7. Checkmark to allow this application to access personal data.

8. Click "Continue".

9. Click "Done".

10. Click "Next".

11. Click "Next".

12. Select 1099 Data.

13. Select "Tax year" from drop down menu.

14. Select Form 1099-B from drop down menu.

15. Select the correct 1099-B box for monetary amounts from drop-down menu.

16. Click "Next".

17. Click "OK".

18. Review data to import.

19. Click "Next".

20. Click "Finish".

1099-B E-File Instructions

Step by Step Instructions

Note: Before you can file electronically with the IRS you need to obtain a TCC code (Transmitter Control Code). If you filed with the IRS electronically before, then you should already have a TCC code. If this is the first time you are filing electronically then you can easily obtain a TCC code by submitting Form 4419 to the IRS. You will need a TCC code to electronically file regardless of the software.

Make sure you have the correct Company open inside W2 Mate.

1. Click "E-Filing" from the top menu

2. Select "1099-B Forms"

This will open the Electronic Filing Transmitter Setup page

3. Complete all of the Transmitter and Company information fields

4. Enter the Contact Information

Note: Combined Federal/State Program is not available for form 1099-B.

5. Select "Browse" to select the location for the electronic file to be saved

6. Click "OK"

7. To open the folder when the file was saved, Click "Yes" on the pop up screen

Now log in to the IRS FIRE system website to upload your 1099-B electronic submission file.

To access the IRS FIRE system website from inside W2 Mate:

8. Click "IRS & SSA Instructions" from the top menu.

9. Click "Go to IRS FIRE System Website (1099 Electronic Filing)".

Note: You will be re-routed to the IRS FIRE system website (http://fire.irs.gov), where you must log in to upload and submit the file you have created.
