Wisconsin 1099-NEC E-File Details
- Internal Revenue Service Publication 1220 outlines the basic requirements and format for 1099-NEC e-filing with Wisconsin.
- The state does not have special file naming requirements.
- All data records must be a fixed length of 750 bytes.
- Data must be in ASCII character set.
- Media positions 663-677 of the B record must include 15-digit Wisconsin withholding tax number.
- If the payer did not withhold, was not required to withhold and never held a Wisconsin withholding tax number, use 036888888888801.
- The K record is required.
- Payer FEIN, state tax ID and business legal name must match Wisconsin records.
- Payer address cannot be blank.
- State tax ID formatting: 036-1234567890-01 [first 3 digits must be 036. Last 2 digits must be 01 through 09].
